A classically-trained soprano, Rachel Adamson has performed extensively throughout the United States as an opera singer, a recital soloist, and a choir soloist. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Eastern Kentucky University and has garnered many accolades for her intense dramatic interpretation and rich characterization on stage.
Over the past 30 years, Rachel has graced countless classical and operatic stages throughout Kentucky, Florida, California, and Arizona, including those at Orlando Opera, Southern Arizona Opera, and the prestigious Carnegie Hall.
Despite her longtime love for opera and classical music, Rachel’s soul has always been seething with a desire for the darker, heavier, more intense side of music – a world without the strict confines of history, where energy and freedom reign. Hearing Iron Maiden’s Hallowed Be Thy Name and Nighwish’s Ghost Love Score for the first time were indeed life-changing moments.
Following her heart and always appreciating a challenge, Rachel transitioned from the classical and operatic realms and into the hard rock and metal genres in 2021. With her first band, A Simple Complex, she honed her vocal skills to fit the stylistic demands necessary, and later supported 3 Doors Down and Candlebox on their 2023 Away From the Sun Anniversary tour. That same year, she had her first studio experience and recorded an EP with Jonathan Wyman at The Halo/This Sounds Good Studio in Maine.
An avid lyricist, Rachel wrote the lyrics for A Simple Complex’s 2023 single, Antihero. Since returning to Tucson and finding a home within the Netherverse in 2024, she has lent her dark poetry to both Spellbound and Horns of Dystopia, as well as a few pieces still in production.
When she’s not bewitching souls with Netherdred, you can find Rachel performing with her 80s cover band, Shattered Hourglass, or with her acoustic partnership, Rachel and Damon. She is also passionate about vocal technique and currently works as a vocal coach for an array of amazing students ranging in ages from 12 to 70.
